What is an employee services and activities program?

An employee services program is any single activity or event (the company picnic or discount ticket sales) or combination of activities (the company picnic and company softball teams) which promote employee loyalty, fellowship, high morale and physical and mental development, thereby enhancing employee lifestyle and positively influencing productivity and profitability.

Who belongs to MERSC?
Over 325 companies and government agencies—those with 10,000+ employees and multiple sites to single-site companies with 25 employees—belong to MERSC. Employee services programs vary from programs that are well established and managed by full-time staff to programs handled by one or more volunteers with jobs in other fields.
Over 225 Associate member (vendor) companies belong to MERSC, offering discounts and/or value added services on a wide variety of services, activities and products.

Can a company of any size join MERSC?
MERSC membership is open to all companies, regardless of the number of employees. In fact, representatives on the MERSC Board of Directors have come from small (10 employees), mid-size (1,000 employees) and large (10,000 employees) companies.

Can we join MERSC if we do not have a separate or formal employee services department or a full-time employee services representative?
Yes, you may designate any employee from your company as your MERSC representative. You’ll find that reps from other companies have jobs in many fields and work in many departments.

If the same person can't attend the MERSC meetings every month, can an alternate representative attend?

Yes, an alternate rep may attend MERSC meetings. You’ll find that many companies send more than one person to MERSC meetings, depending on the meeting topic and location.

Once we join MERSC, what will we receive?

  • Annual Membership Directory, listing all Organizational (corporate) members, and all Associate (vendor) members offering discounts.
  • Web site password (for MERSC rep use only)
  • Flyers, brochures, posters, coupons & other promotional pieces from MERSC members offering discounts on products & services.

How do we advertise the discounts to employees?

  1. Direct employees to the MERSC website - www.mersc.org
  2. Instruct employees to click on the buttons at the top of the front page: Employee Discounts, New Discounts, Limtied Time Offers, Coupons / Order Forms.
  3. Link to the MERSC website from your company website or employee club / activities website.
  4. Forward e-mails to your company's employees that you receive from MERSC Associate (vendor) members on special offers.
  5. Distribute printed copies of the MERSC Employee Discount Directory.
